Holda White Lady of Winter

Here are two more of the Holda dolls. I am working on a couple more. It just feels good to be making them right now. I took my Yule tree down early, but then put up a winter altar that I'll probably leave until spring. I also put out several snowmen this year. Mandy loved and collected them so when she died I gave most of them away. This is the first year that I can really have them out without having it hurt as much.

Lady Winter

I just finished this Lady tonight. I'll be making a few more over the next couple weeks. I really had fun with her and went back to fiber hair because I wanted a huge puffy look for her. This was the only winter fabric I had when I made the forms, but I just might try to find something else and work on some after the holidays.

Memory Pillows

I've been wanting to do these pillows for a long time and finally just got into the right emotional space to do them. I have three of them pictured here, but there are actually a couple of others in similar designs. The green one is the first one I made and have placed the photos of both of my children who have died in the locket. The locket fits in a pocket on the back. This one is for my son. The others have photos determined by the person receiving them.

Autumn Lady

I did this Lady for a doll swap in one of my doll making groups so she has already been sent on to her new home. I loved working on her. I used a new pattern for the form and just added things as I went. She is not completely covered in beads but I'm liking the beaded loops for hair so here I used it again.

Lady in Black n' Red

I just finished this Lady in Black n' Red, which will be a gift to my sister who likes this dolor combination. She is not encrusted with beads as I really liked the color and design of the fabric so I looked for a way to leave some of showing. I like the way she came out.

I really like some of the streaked colors that women are now putting through their hair. In honoring that I tried running some red through the beaded black hair on this lady. The back actually has quite a bit of the red tips as if the color spread as it moved toward the back.

I have a bird cut and stuffed in this same fabric. I'm thinking of doing something similar with the beading, minus the hair, of course. I hope my sister likes it.

Living in the Trunk

Here are some more examples of my earlier work. These are my favorites so when not being displayed or used on my altars they stay in this vintage-like trunk that I bought at a craft store. I do switch the out from time to time as I add some and have given some away. I'm prone to parting with those that seem to belong somewhere else.

Lady in Red and Gold

This is one of my older ladies. She's done on felt with no embellishment on the back. Red is always a hard color for me to work on, but I have done it several times. My sister like red so I'm always trying to do something that she will fall in love with.
